Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose a nurse-led clinic?
A nurse‑led clinic offers the reassurance of being treated by a medically trained professional who is regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) — the UK’s statutory body that sets professional standards and protects the public.
You can find out more on our why choose a nurse-led clinic page.
We understand that you might have questions and of course we’re always happy to talk through them with you, so please feel free to contact us if you’d like to chat with someone.
Do you use BOTOX®?
‘Botox’ is a brand name for one type of prescription‑only wrinkle‑softening medicine. UK advertising regulations prevent clinics from naming or promoting prescription‑only medicines in public‑facing materials.
What we can reassure you of is that all treatments are carried out by a registered nurse using UK‑licensed products sourced through reputable UK pharmacies.
We only use UK‑licensed products sourced through reputable UK pharmacies.
Your safety, results and confidence are always our priority.
If you’d like to discuss product options in more detail, we’re happy to do so during your consultation.
Who carries out the treatment?
All treatments are performed by an NMC registered nurse with specialist training in facial aesthetics, ensuring safe, ethical and professional care.
Is treatment suitable for everyone?
All of our treatments are suitable for people of all genders but not everyone will be suitable for every treatment, which is why a full consultation is essential.
Your clinician will review your medical history, assess your facial anatomy and discuss your goals to determine whether each treatment is appropriate for you.
Certain medical conditions, medications, allergies or pregnancy/breastfeeding may mean treatment isn’t recommended and we are unable to treat under 18’s.
If you’re not suitable, we’ll explain why and may offer safe, alternative options where appropriate.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime varies depending on the treatment but most clients return to normal activities shortly after treatment.
Some treatments can leave a feeling of tightness, small bumps, swelling at injection points, pinpoint marks or mild redness that tends to settle quickly.
Your clinician will provide tailored aftercare advice to support a smooth recovery and the best possible results.
How do you help ensure safety?
Cosmetic treatments are widely used, and many people have them without complications, but no treatment is completely risk‑free. Safety depends on several factors, including the type of treatment, the products used, your individual health, and the training and experience of the practitioner providing it.
As a nurse-led clinic, a qualified practitioner will talk you through the procedure, explain any potential risks or side effects, and make sure the treatment is appropriate for you before going ahead. We will also provide clear information about what to expect afterwards and how to look after the area.
This overview is intended for general understanding only. Your practitioner can discuss the specifics of any treatment during a consultation.
At Chorley Aesthetics, your safety is always our number one priority and that is why we will:
Never compromise on quality.
Never offer unlicensed imported products.
Only use genuine products sourced through reputable UK pharmacies and reputable suppliers.
Always listen to you and offer you professional cosmetic advice, judgement and follow best practise.
Refuse treatment if we feel it is clinically unsuitable, you tell us that you’re medically unfit, your judgement is impaired or you’re under 18 years old.
How do anti-wrinkle treatments work?
Anti-wrinkle treatments use a prescription‑only medicine to help soften the appearance of lines. Full details are discussed during your consultation.
The treatment is administered by a qualified clinician to soften lines and create a smoother, refreshed appearance. Full details are discussed during consultation.
Anti-wrinkle treatments don’t fill lines, resurface skin, or change facial structure, it simply softens the muscle activity that creates creases. But we do offer a range of other Dermal Filler and Skin Rejuvenation Treatments that can also help provide a rounded new look.
Will my results look natural?
The aim is always subtle, balanced rejuvenation. Your treatment plan is tailored to your facial anatomy and desired outcome.
We will always consider your expectations as a priority but we will not undertake any clinically unsafe practises and we may refuse to perform treatments that go against best practise or that we deem medically inappropriate or cosmetically harmful.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel‑like substances used to gently restore volume, soften lines, and enhance facial contours. Most modern fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a molecule that occurs naturally in the skin and helps it stay hydrated and plump.
They are placed beneath the skin by a qualified practitioner to:
• replace volume that has reduced over time
• refine or enhance specific facial features
• soften the appearance of certain lines or folds
The aim of our Profile+ treatments is typically subtle, natural‑looking enhancement rather than dramatic change.
Is Dry+ for Axillary Hyperhidrosis?
Axillary hyperhidrosis is a medical condition where the underarms produce excessive sweat that goes beyond what the body needs for temperature regulation.
As a cosmetic clinic, we offer cosmetic treatments to help boost confidence, comfort and overall appearance.
Dry+ is a cosmetic treatment designed to help the underarm area feel drier and more manageable. It is not a medical treatment for hyperhidrosis.
We are unable to provide any medical diagnosis or advice and recommend that anyone with a medical concern or those seeking diagnosis speak with their GP in the first instance.
If our cosmetic treatments use prescription only medicines, you will always receive a consultation with a qualified independent prescriber prior to any treatment being recommended.
Are treatments safe?
Cosmetic treatments are widely used, and many people have them without complications, but no treatment is completely risk‑free.
We are a nurse-led clinic and will always put your safety first, you can find out more about our promise to you on our safety pages.
Do I have to have a consultation?
For any treatment involving the use of a prescription‑only medicine, a face‑to‑face consultation with an independent prescriber is legally required before any treatment can take place.
During this appointment, your prescriber will review your medical history, assess your facial anatomy and confirm whether the treatment is suitable for you. If you are eligible and choose to proceed, your treatment can then be carried out safely by your clinician using a personalised plan based on your needs.
For our other treatments, a personalised consultation is required to assess suitability and treatment planning.
There is a £30 consultation fee that fully redeemable against the cost of your procedure if you decide to go ahead with treatment, making your consultation effectively free when you proceed.
This fee also secures your appointment and covers the time dedicated to your clinical assessment. Contact us for further information.
How long do results last?
Smooth+ Anti-wrinkle treatment results typically last several months, but this varies between individuals. Your clinician will explain what to expect based on your treatment area and lifestyle factors.
Profile+ Dermal Filler results typically last several months, depending on the area treated, the product used and individual factors such as metabolism. Your clinician will explain what to expect during your consultation.
Refresh+ Skin Rejuvenation longevity varies by treatment and individual skin factors. Typically, Microneedling results build over a course and can last several months. Polynucleotides benefit from maintenance every 3–6 months. Skin boosters benefit from top‑ups every 3–6 months.
Dry+ results vary between individuals, but many clients feel the underarm area stays drier and more manageable for several months.
Do treatments hurt?
Smooth+ Anti-wrinkle and Dry+ Underarm Treatments use a fine gauge needle and so are generally described relatively pain free with some clients experiencing a mild sting lasting a few seconds.
Profile+ Dermal Fillers and Refresh+ Skin Rejuvenation treatments are usually described as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful but the experience varies from person to person and depends on the specific technique being used.
Many dermal fillers contain a built‑in numbing agent, and additional numbing options can be used to keep you comfortable.
How does the Dry+ treatment work?
Dry+ uses a prescription‑only medicine to help manage the appearance of underarm perspiration. Your clinician will discuss how the treatment works during your consultation.
People often seek this treatment when sweating affects daily comfort, clothing choices, or confidence. The treatment is cosmetic with the aim to simply help the area feel drier and more manageable.
You will be invited for a consultation that will assess your suitability and then your clinician can create a personalised cosmetic treatment plan.
Most clients return to normal activities straight away following their Dry+ treatment. Your clinician will provide tailored aftercare advice to support a smooth recovery.
